🌞 SUMMER SPOTLIGHT ON CLIENTS: CELEBRATING THE PILATES JOURNEY

One of the most rewarding parts of teaching Pilates is seeing the progress that happens quietly over time — the small shifts in strength, posture, mindset, and confidence that build with each class. This summer, I wanted to pause and recognise a few clients who’ve truly embraced the journey. Their commitment hasn’t gone unnoticed and I've loved seeing the progression.

Each of these three clients have attended a high number of classes, but it’s not just about the numbers. What stands out is their consistency, their openness to learning, and the way they’ve each made Pilates a part of their life in a meaningful way.

Their stories reflect what’s possible when you keep showing up — and I’m excited to share a bit of their journey with you!

Meet the clients

Megan

In just four months, Megan has become a regular and enthusiastic part of the classes — and her progress speaks for itself!

Her consistency and positive attitude make her a joy to have in class. Even though she’s relatively new to the practice, her strength and endurance (even with those circles!) have already come a long way. Megan’s story is a great reminder that you don’t need years of experience to feel and see the benefits.

Mirian

Mirian’s Pilates journey is a powerful example of how consistent movement can truly transform the way we feel — both in our bodies and our minds. Having practised on and off for years, she really leaned into it during lockdown, using the extra time to build a daily routine. Since joining class, Mirian has embraced the challenge with such a positive, committed attitude. She shows up ready to move, ready to challenge herself and she's an absolute pleasure to have at each class.

Erin

In just a few months, Erin has become a regular in class — her energy, focus, and progress have been fantastic to see! Coming from a gym background, she was looking for something low-impact that would still build strength and flexibility, and Pilates has delivered exactly that (plus a serious boost in core strength!). Erin is a real joy to have in each class. She approaches each practice with enthusiasm and an open mind, always embracing the challenge.

Question Time 📣

Q. How long have you been practising Pilates?

Megan: Just 4 months but I loved it straight away.

Mirian: On and off for years, but in lockdown I started practising daily, using the time I would spend commuting otherwise.

Erin: I’ve been practicing Pilates for the last 3 months and I look forward to it every week!

Q. What inspired you to start, and what keeps you coming back?

Megan: I wanted to improve my strength and had heard Pilates was great for it! I love that it doesn’t necessarily feel like a full-on workout but I can definitely feel the difference in my ability and have noticed changes in my body already.

Mirian: As so often, the inspiration was more a necessity. My back, my hips and my arthritic knee were sore but that has all gone thanks to Pilates. I started your class to see how far I could challenge myself – that’s what I don’t really do at home!

Erin: I have always enjoyed going to the gym but I wanted to try a low-impact class for strength, stretching and flexibility. I’ve noticed improvements in my core strength and I always feel great after the class.

Q. How has Pilates impacted your life (emotionally, physically or mentally)?

Megan: Pilates has quickly become my favourite time of the week as it gives me time to just focus on my breathing and chill out whilst moving my body. Having time away from a screen and doing some less intense exercise than running always makes me feel more at peace, especially if I’ve had a rough day at work. Even though I’ve only been practising Pilates for a short period of time, I have already noticed a big change in my strength and agility, particularly in my core - bring on the abs!

Mirian: Oh it has made my life in every aspect so much better. I’ve grown stronger and my body doesn’t hurt any longer. As I practise most days, it gives me the best start and leaves me with a calm mind. The discipline for self-care has grown into appreciation of my body’s abilities. It’s fun and it makes me feel great.

Erin: I feel more physically fit and flexible. The classes are challenging but also relaxing - they really set me up for the day.

Q. What's your favourite part or thing about our class?

Megan: My favourite movements in class are our side lying series and leg exercises (even the small circles!).

Mirian: Everything! I like the rhythm of the exercises, the variety you bring every week, the individual guidance, and not to forget the options for different levels of practise. The music is right up my street too.

Erin: The classes are challenging and different every time. Kerry explains and demonstrates everything and it’s a really relaxed atmosphere so you never feel silly!

Q. What would you say to someone who is thinking about trying Pilates for the first time?

Megan: I'd really encourage people to try Pilates as it’s a great way to get into getting yourself moving. It’s a lower intensity workout than running and it’s much less intimidating than going to a gym and trying to figure out how to use various weights. Kerry makes each class feel so welcoming and comfortable; I can’t recommend her classes enough. If I weren’t so committed to Park Run on a Saturday morning I’d go to both classes per week!

Mirian: Just try it! It’s a great start or end to your day. Your body will feel great afterwards (if with a tiny bit of muscle ache, the next day 😊). The joy of improving a tiny bit every week is almost addictive. Kerry will make you feel so welcome.

Erin: You should try it! It is adaptable and suitable for all levels and you’ll be surprised how quickly you improve!
